Render Lane

The studio itself, scanned at 4am and rebuilt as a walkable set for a film nobody has commissioned yet.

This one has no client and no deadline, which is exactly why it is the most useful thing in the archive. Once a quarter, before the farm gets busy, we photograph the studio and rebuild it.

112 Render Lane, retopologised. The stain on the second bench is load-bearing.

Why bother

Because a real room is a better test than any synthetic scene. Real rooms have bad corners, inconsistent paint, and a window that blows out at exactly the wrong hour. Every lighting rig we build gets tried here before it goes near a paying object.

What we learned the hard way

Photogrammetry gives you a mesh that is correct and unusable — millions of triangles with no edge flow. The rebuild is where the value is: retopologised by hand, UV’d properly, and small enough to walk through in real time.

Where it goes

Nowhere, so far. It is a set waiting for a film, and in the meantime it is the most honest test scene we own.
